Five little phrases..
..that are treated, sometimes with notoriousness, sometimes with fear, and more often than not without proper understanding of what they mean. And so here I am to ask for some respect when some people use them and some words against those who abuse them.
- Free thought :- Ok, May not be the most fearful word around, but probably is the most abused one. People with super natural beliefs, pseudo science and psychology use it when it suits them. What we need are free thinkers who use scientific method to explore philosophical mysteries that still plague human kind!
- Non conformance:- Rebellion, shades of violence come to mind. But when society forces method, order, and thus minimizes change, we need Non conformance to supplant dogma . For the better or worse, stagnant dogmatic cultures can only survive through those that are willing to stir up those around them by planting seeds of doubt and change.
- Disbelief :- Belief, faith leads to intolerance towards those who oppose these values. Intolerance has often led to large scale violence through out human history, and what should be done is to practice disbelief, and consider all points of view. This is especially hard when only a part of the population is willing to do so.
- Atheism :- Beware the phony atheist who claim to be godless when their prayers are not answered, but crawl back to the holy places in times of despair, for there are many, ill informed, intolerant, sometimes powerful and dangerous. Often is the question asked “Where does morality arise, without God?”. THE reply: empathy. Hence, redefine “Atheism: Being good without god!”
- Anarchy :- Even the most well educated, free thinking, non conformist, disbelieving atheists may not like the idea of anarchy. Just because it implies chaos, and an orderless society. With humanity at its present stage, it is not an unfair opinion. But an utopian future can only be an anarchy. With every system developed by mankind failing or showing chinks in its foundations, especially with those in power getting greedy, an anarchic society which encourages co-operation without leadership should be the eventual goal of humanity!
I may not have written completely about each of the topics, but each of them can be expanded into a post of their own. So this may be a prelude of whats to come in the future!
